• Methodologies adopted It is evident hitherto that depending on the type of expert system being developed, a single methodology is not sufficient for complete and successful development of the system. Therefore, in this study, a combination of methodologies were adopted. After evaluation of various research methodologies discussed above, the following methodologies were adopted for this study: • Rule Based Expert System Methodology (RBESM) • Object-Oriented Analysis and Design Methodology (OOADM) 3.2.2 Rule Based Expert System Methodology (RBESM) A rule based expert system is a computer system which could do the work of human expert by relying on   sets of rules and facts supplied by the domain expert. It comprises Knowledge base (facts and rules), inference engine, interface and working memory.
